Via Ferrata In The Northern Dolomites(Trip #65643)

Tour Overview

Classic Via Ferrata routes including the famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo
The Sexten Dolomites are an extensive cluster of fine, craggy mountains occupying the northeastern corner of the Dolomites massif, an area which includes many 'jewels' such as the Tre Cime di Lavaredo. This is considered one of the best parts of this vast mountain range, thanks to its stunning landscapes and extensive variety of routes. We follow classic Via Ferrata routes through tunnels and over high-level bridges, exploring the extensive fortifications that still exist throughout this area - many of which are being restored as open air museums. Although popular with rock climbers, our UIAGM qualified guides safely lead us across the protected Via Ferrata scrambles, such as Toblinger Knoten and the more challenging routes of Punta Anna and Tomassella. Fortifications were placed on strategic cols and summits during the First World War, and these can be reached via iron ladders, bridges and even tunnels through rock. Throughout, we enjoy traditional Tyrolean hospitality at our family-run hotel.
